1- Hello Leonie, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Leonie Cinkl I was Born in Hamburg Germany where I also finished my studies. I have studied Personal Training at Safs&Beta in 2012 and graduated in 2015.  In that Time, I traveled a lot to Cape Town. My ex Husband was based there. My Son, Ben was born in 2013 and he changed my life. In 2015 I moved to Capet Town. In that Period, I worked as a Bootcamp trainer, Personal Trainer, lady’s Trainer at Curves, I worked a lot with Pregnant women and people with Injuries. In 2016 I moved to the Netherlands. I started working at Health city Den Haag as a Personal trainer. It was a great start!I am a Personal trainer, Functional Trainer, Physio fitness Trainer, back and spine trainer, Sports Nutritionist. I am an open Person and I like to have a good Vibe around me. I love helping people set goal. It brings me happiness to see them succeed. Being a mom taught me a lot of great things in life, like being calm and take one step at a time.

2- What are your focus areas and why?
The focus point is to train people in the most effective way, that means strength, coordination, regulation, stretching and mobilizations training. In that way, the client gets the right attention. Each client is different and has a different body physique, mind and training Motivation. All these focus Points make this Job so interesting and Fun.

I love offering Personal Training because I know I have an Impact on my client’s life, in and out of the Gym. A happy client means success for me! I believe in training, simply because, it works.  A trainer should not give to the clients one way of standard training, but to offer them a training that will meet their needs and will make them succeed.

3- Can you tell us about your brand “Downtown FitLab”?
In everything we do, we believe in constantly challenging ourselves to improve and change the industry of fitness. Our state of art facility contains innovative equipment and trainers who have the knowledge that’s needed to distinguish us from many other gyms.

Our ability to integrate stability and performance in the programs we design for our clients ensures their efficiency and success. Other assets revolve around designing injury preventive functional workouts based on science.

4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
I see myself having an impact on all my clients. On health, spirit or being there as a lifestyle coach. People that come to our gym benefit in a lot of different ways. I always do the best for my clients. Not only as a trainer but also as a human being. I help people on their health journey.

5- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working to launch Downtown FitLab?
My work in Downtown FITLAB is a big challenge for me. And I love it. My Boss and friend Rafael Rosha gave me this Opportunity to grow and saw my potential as a trainer. We have both the same understanding of training people but still have different ways, that is a great way to learn from each other. I want people to get to know me, my sessions, my method and trust their goals and dreams to me! I never stop learning and love the challenge to communicate with people in that way.

6- Can you tell us about your training style?
Having and maintaining a working knowledge of human anatomy and the concepts of functional exercise, basic nutrition and fundamental principles of exercise science:

  • An ability to design and execute individual and small group exercise fitness programs, tailored to the needs and attainable goals of the individual, apparently healthy client, in a safe and effective way.
  • An understanding of the need and importance of screening and client assessment; proficiency in conducting these evaluations initially and progressively.
  • A desire to help clients reach their health and fitness goals through appropriate cardiovascular, flexibility and resistance exercise.
  • An ability to motivate others in an encouraging and uplifting way towards improving their overall fitness and health.
  • A dedication to maintaining personal integrity, client confidentiality and professional standards for best practice.
  • A dedication to self-improvement, self-awareness, continuous learning, personal growth and development regarding personal health, fitness and mental capacity

7- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Wow… well that’s a tuff question. I want to grow as a Person, Personal trainer, and mother. I do not know what will happen in the next 5 years, life is full of surprises that I like to explore. At this point, I love my new job at Downtown FITLAB and know I will grow and learn a lot from it as a person.

I would love to do more workshops, connect with other great Trainers in the world, travel and learn. You can always learn from something that makes you happy.

8- What can you tell young people who are interested in change their life with fitness?
Stay focused, find a starting point and don’t stop. A lot of young people think it’s difficult and hard to stay focused. It won’t come overnight but if you stay focused and start step by step and if you are not shy to ask for help, then you will succeed. Ask yourself, Why do I want to change my lifestyle? After you answer that question to yourself, then it will be way easier to start.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
The most exciting part of my work is to see people change during the Process of training, it’s just beautiful to see how clients succeed on so many different levels.

Meeting new people and learn from my clients is also a big part of my job. I am always proud to learn something new even if it’s totally out my comfort zone.
