1- Hello Luigi, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
Hello, I am Luigi Wewege the CEO of Vivier & Co, a boutique financial services firm offering private digital banking solutions to its clients worldwide. Outside of Vivier he serves as the Non-executive Chairman of Nikau Global an international trade development company, as a Partner/Director of Palmetto Global Ventures a bespoke financial management consultancy based in South Carolina, and is an invited member of Massachusetts non-profit The YEC. Luigi is also the author of the book: The Digital Banking Revolution which is available in audio, kindle and paperback formats through all major online bookstores in over fifty countries
2- What are your focus areas and why?
My personal responsibility within the financial services group is to lead and motivate a worldwide team where he oversees all business divisions and functions which include; business development, compliance, customer service, finance, HR, IT, as well as for global sales, and marketing.
3- How do you describe your journey in few words?
I would describe my journey as fortunate, mentally demanding, and fulfilling. I would tell my younger self that it will all work out and to keep at what I was doing and that the path I was on was leading me to where I aimed to be. I think one of the hardest parts about business is the uncertainty. It’s imperative that you push through any doubts or insecurities.
4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
I am incredibly grateful that my professional success has allowed me to make so many positive contributions to society, and I have always been enthusiastic about opportunities for fostering positive change through youth empowerment as well as through the creation of greater opportunities for development. As a director and trustee with Doing Good Fellows, for example, I have been able to use my position to encourage greater youth empowerment while also offering solutions capable of addressing many of the more common issues and challenges faced by non-profit organizations.
5- Can you tell us about “Vivier Financial Services”?
Vivier is a boutique financial services firm offering a complete financial package which includes: current accounts, savings accounts, debit cards, an online platform, and international money transfers. Vivier also offers escrow accounts which assist companies in facilitating international trade and mitigating their risk on critical transactions.
6- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
To continually grow Vivier into a leading international financial services group of companies.
7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “Vivier Financial Services”?
I consider the most major when the company had to push back our timeline of expansion into Southeast Asia, as being the most challenging. What we hadn’t realized were the numerous challenges we would face, such as online connectivity being very low across much of the region. Also, many financial consumers there have never used an offshore financial services firm for their banking needs, and so the burden falls on the first movers like us to explain the benefits to the market.
8- What can you tell young people who are pursuing their dreams?
It sounds cliche, but don’t give up on your dreams. More specifically, don’t give up on dreams without putting your all into them. If you happen to fall short of success, at least you know with assurance that you tried your absolute best. Failure is not a loss of time, money, or anything. It is a crucial experience if you learned from it. I believe it is only when you have given up without expending your maximum potential that it can be truly called a moment of failure.
9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
What excites me at present is how the banking industry is evolving so rapidly, and how new financial service innovations will continue to contribute to a completely new way in which consumers are able to bank, threatening the status quo of traditional banks and redefining a banking model which has been in place for generations.
10- The last word or final thoughts?
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be interviewed, and I always had big dreams when I started Vivier, but it has grown more successful than I ever had imagined!
