1- Hello Martin, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I’ve been in media for my entire adult life. Have made several films and run a TV station for a living. The Film Fest is my moonlighting gig, really.
2- What are your focus areas and why?
We focus heavily on International Cinema and bringing the talent so that audiences can get an inside view of filmmaking. We’ve featured many Hollywood and indie stars.
3- Can you tell us about “SACRAMENTO FILM FESTIVAL”?
Known for Award winning international cinema and film creation conferences like the Digital Odyssey, and American Screenwriters Conference, this week-long festival of cinema (April 22nd – April 30th 2017) celebrates its 22nd year with the largest collection of local cinema yet seen.
4- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “SACRAMENTO FILM FESTIVAL”?
The main challenge is always financial. We are currently seeking a top drawer sponsor who would want to grow with this amazing event.
5- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Truthfully, the hunger by audiences and filmmakers for what we have is truly amazing. As this is our 22nd year, we’ve seen many changes. We are extremely excited about the advances in digital technology and how that is changing what we do. In 5 years, there will be many new expressions for content creators who we work with that simply were never available before.
6- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job?
We interface with people from all walks of life, not just entertainers but many skilled craftspeople, government officials and a real cross section of society.
7- What can you tell young film creators who are pursuing their dreams?
You must CONSTANTLY educate yourself. This is why we have a Digital Odyssey conference. We call it the world’s 1st transmedia conference. In essence, we’re educating content creators to think outside the box and embrace audiences in completely new and exciting ways.
8- What are you most excited about at the moment?
We have a program called “World’s Greatest Shorts”. Enough said?
9- The last word or final thoughts?
I’d just like to encourage people to go to our website and see the trailers. Get out of the multi-plex and experience something different.
And to RSVP for the opening party, go to the event page.
