1- Hello Aron, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?

I am currently a lead SEO at an agency in Cape Town, South Africa. After graduating from Stellenbosch University last year, I decided to venture down the path of digital marketing and advertising. I am passionate about analytics and using data to make business decisions that will have a positive effect on our client’s return on their investments.

In my personal time, I enjoy the outdoors, hiking regularly, playing football and just spending time in nature.

2- What are your focus areas and why?

As lead SEO I am responsible for ensuring campaigns are implemented successfully. This is achieved through a combination of time management, communication, and hard work. I focus on reviewing the campaign and understanding how we should execute it to meet deadlines, achieve the desired results, and satisfy customers’ expectations.

My expertise lies within the data and technical side of search engine optimization. This includes a higher level of knowledge regarding analytics; understanding metrics, dimensions, and goals. Having a sound ability to draw conclusions from a multitude of different datasets. SEO, as much as it is a creative field, has a large analytical/science to it. Using these principles allows us to achieve a more predictable outcome.

3- How do you describe your journey in few words?

Since a young age, I have been fascinated by technology and computers. Myself having been a big gamer. After having majored in information systems, my interest in these topics expanded further. I am hungry to learn, and continuously seeking more knowledge. My journey is just beginning and I am excited to see where the road takes me.

The company has over a decade of expertise and has carried out successful projects internationally, to over 15 different countries. Our client’s range from small, brick-mortar stores; to multi-national, industry-leading firms.

Having come from a highly-competitive vertical – casino and gambling, the agency has a strong grasp of what is needed to move the needle and deliver high-impact results. Our growing team of specialists is passionate about search. We are Google ambassadors and work hard to ensure our clients receive the best services possible.

5- Where do you think you are making an impact?

I believe I am making an impact on both the businesses we serve and their customers. We help those businesses enhance their online visibility, creating better-designed websites that answer the searcher’s queries. I like to think the customers leave better informed and receive a pleasant user experience on the website.

6- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working at “Ruby Digital”?

As a small, growing agency, it was difficult to manage the high start-up costs of operating a business, whilst managing our client’s tasks. Since then our team and operations have improved, and we are feeling optimistic about the future.

7- Where do you see the company in the next 5 years?

The company has seen big leaps in terms of international exposure. Through on-boarding international clients, our brand name has started circulating in foreign locations. We are hopefully about branching out and offering services to businesses in the UK and the USA.

8- What can you tell young SEO Analysts who are pursuing their dreams?

Be passionate about what you pursue. You need to love what you do and that will make work something more than just a 9 to 5. Keep your head down, grind hard, and the results will speak for themselves. SEO is a rewarding field to a career in; there is a diverse range of positions and opportunities out there for both the creative and analytical thinking minds.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?

I am interested in the future of search and online marketing. As the internet continues to advance, and consumers continue to play a larger role in dictating how they want to receive information we can only imagine what new ways of advertising and how to optimize for search might evolve.

Regarding my personal pursuits, I will continue to hack at digital marketing, and learn as much as possible so I can continue to offer the most expert service out there. I am also interested in growing my blog: Scout Within Me; which talks about the outdoors and leadership.

10- The last word or final thoughts?

I need only to repeat what has already been said by a true innovator of our time: “Stay hungry, stay foolish”.
