1- Hello David, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m a former private practice lawyer, real estate broker, stock trader, insurance salesman, and warehouse manager who now sells domain names for start-ups and keeps a fasting weight loss blog called Prudently where I talk about my progress on losing 190+lbs so far with about 25-40 to go.
2- How do you describe your journey in few words?
Try, Try, Try Again, Rest, Try, Try, Try, Try Again
3- Where do you think you are making an impact?
I’m starting to have people contact me from far off places to get advice about weight loss and fasting to which is cool. I also made an impact close to home taking care of family members.
4- Can you tell us about BrandableHQ?
BrandableHQ sells short catchy invented words or two-word phrases for startups and bloggers. I sold some cool names I bought a dropped domain auction and then started buying more and turned it into a collection I now offer for sale. I had one prominent silicon valley type find the site and call me up and told me I really captured the ethos of silicon valley which was cool.
5- What are your focus areas and why?
Ranking my domain name site and expanding my writing to spread the word about fasting and weight loss.
6- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Hopefully, I’ll have transitioned to something in the medical field to help other people with weight loss. The domain name site once it’s running correctly has a very low time commitment per week so I’m hoping it will be a lifetime side gig.
7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on Prudently?
Relatives told me I needed to slow down or that I’d lost enough weight. What really gets you is that they just seem to need to talk. Even during periods when my weight was stable they’d talk about it.
8- What can you tell young people who are pursuing their dreams?
Make sure to keep your health up it will affect everything else you do. Don’t expect to be a guaranteed success but don’t be afraid of failure. Try multiple things at once, but prioritize and drop stuff if it interferes with your primary goal. You aren’t going to live forever so get to work.
9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
Finishing up my last 25-40 lbs of weight loss. It’s been three years of progress but a journey that’s taken a lifetime.
10- The last word or final thoughts?
Don’t measure your progress by other people. Just because something works for someone else doesn’t mean it’ll work for you. We all have different bodies, minds, and circumstances. Listen to advice, but don’t allow others judgments to substitute for your own no matter their credentials.
