1- Hello Jennifer, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I had had a wondering childhood. My father was in the military and we traveled the world. However, I think all the traveling made me eventually desire the need for a little stillness and the ability to kind of plant some roots somewhere. So now, my husband and I call Houston our home. We have an amazing 8-year-old son who is our world. I might be a little biased, but he’s pretty perfect. I have been a matchmaker for almost 20 years and in my spare time I manage a charity and pretend to be an Author.

2- What are your focus areas and why?
“We’ll LOVE of course!” She laughs… “But it’s more than just that. After graduating from the University of Houston in 1998, I stumbled into the love business and I never looked back. I fell in love with helping people on their journey to find someone special. Almost 2 decades later I still get excited over a love story and continue to work passionately through the challenges that might come with the territory.”

3- How do you describe your journey in few words?
“Every bump, every bruise, every tear, all the heartache, and pain, pale in comparison to the happiness. It’s worth it all!”

4- Can you tell us about “Memphis Mae”?
“My third child, lol That’s what I am calling them these days. “Memphis Mae” is the sequel to “Bound By Memphis” my first book. It gives readers a glimpse of the beginning and the end of the story. It is told through the eyes of Memphis Mae while intertwining her mother’s words as well. More tantalizing glimpses from Jasmine’s past are revealed through the eyes of her daughter as she reads her journal while bringing the events of the first book to a stunning conclusion. It’s inspired by true events so was an emotional roller coaster.”

5- Where do you think you are making an impact?
“As a matchmaker, I hope I am making an impact on the lives we change for the better. Out of all the things I have accomplished in my life nothing compares to the love I share with my husband and my son. So, I know what that means to have that and what it means for my clients to have that.
As an author: I think that words have power and they can reach a lot of people. We as a world connect with each other through our stories. I really hope that I inspire or touch someone through my books.”

6- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while writing the “Memphis Mae”?
“It took me almost 4 years to write Memphis Mae. I think it was due to lack of having time and losing focus. Stopping and starting while trying to regain my focus while trying to maintain everything else going on in my life was somewhat of a struggle but I guess I worked it out.”

7- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
“Without deadlines… I have two more books in the works. A children’s book I am writing with my husband and my matchmaking book called “Love Big or be Single” I hope to have them both out next year and just take some time off and enjoy my family.”

8- What can you tell young people who are pursuing their dreams?
“Listen to people that have done it before you and cultivate a network of trusted mentors and colleagues. I have learned so much from other people. Young and old. Other people can give us the best insight into ourselves—and our own limitations.  Be a lifelong student. No one is successful alone. “

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
“I am excited about where my life has taken me. Contentment had eluded me for many years, but I finally got it right in, love, life and in business. Fulfillment… it’s a great feeling.”

10- The last word or final thoughts?
“Keep your heart open to love and possibilities in your life. You never know where it might take you. My motto, Learn to love your life and I promise it will love you back.”
