1- Hello Joëlle, can you please tell us a bit about you?
I am an art dealer who travels the world organizing large-scale art events, winning a few awards along the way mainly for entrepreneur
2- What influences your work? What makes you want to wake up every morning?
Passion for the arts and making things happen. Achieving success is the biggest excitement for me.
3- What are your focus areas and why?
Art, since I graduated from Art Academy in the Netherlands. I moved to London when I was 21 and started working in the core sales industry at Bank, where I learned an awful lot about making business happen.
4- Can you tell us more about your last journey as a philanthropist?
I wish to be a philanthropist full time, but at the moment business is taking over. My last big journey as a philanthropist was in 2012 when I traveled to Tanzania to help the orphanage of ‘Bwejuu’ bringing gifts personally to the orphans on Xmas day and spend the day together – it was a fantastic experience to see the orphans so happy with yet so little and just some attention. Puts things massively in perspective. Since then my business is supporting the orphanage and in 2014 my business partner went over to the orphanage ‘Save Blessing Child Home’ in Kathmandu to educate and organize art classes for the orphans. In 2015 my company raised nearly £10K together with ‘Act Against Ebola’ for ‘Doctors without Borders’. This year I am raising money for Cancer Research since my dad sadly passed away about 4 months ago of lung cancer.
5- Where do you think you are making an impact?
My company is making it possible for artists to connect with art collectors directly and providing an all round platform for contemporary art, bringing internationally renowned artists to countries around the world for everyone to enjoy is making an impact not only on our clients, or the Art & Culture sector, but think also of the Tourism and the Economic industry. That together with spending % profits on Charity and good causes is of course always making an impact. Some client testimonials have been out of this world, like life-changing experiences that my organization has been able to create this for them – is mind blowing and helps us to grow stronger and go forward positively.
6- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on your last projects?
Every project we tackle has its challenges; mainly to be responsible for a public event where tens of thousands of visitors are expected is quite an intense sensation. I think the biggest challenge is to keep 1 step ahead of the competition and being fierce with taking risks. I like challenges by the way
7- Where do see yourself in the next 5 years?
Apart from staying in the art world, I am currently getting into Real-Estate investments as well as Stocks and Trading. Releasing my entrepreneurial book about doing business in the art world, followed by a biography, which hopefully will become a sensation. And releasing my fashion label next year. I see myself continuing what I am doing is an entrepreneur and keep moving business, whilst enjoying life and traveling.
8- What can you tell young entrepreneurs who are pursuing their dreams?
Never give up. Fall, learn, get up, keep going. Keep believing in yourself, and dream big!
9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
Moving countries… cannot wait to move to my new home, home.
10- The last word or final thoughts?
“Success is the best revenge” 😉
