1- Hello Josh, can you please tell us a bit about you?

I’m an entrepreneur from NYC who always had a love for cars and a never-ending interest in science and engineering. I would take everything apart, just to put it back together so I can understand how it worked. I also realized at a young age that I had a knack for sales, I would sell items online while I attended school. This eventually led me to start businesses, like Everything Auto NY, which allows me to solve new problems every day, feed my curiosity, and of course keep me immersed in my passion.

2- What influences your work? What makes you want to wake up every morning?

The people keep me going, my phone is always ringing with calls, texts, and emails from customers who need my help. Knowing that they trust me and my team with all their car needs is very satisfying and makes my career very fulfilling.

3- In terms of cars, what are your focus areas and why?

Even though I work on all makes and models, I do prefer to focus on European cars. The way some of these cars are designed, wow, I marvel at the genius of their engineering. I appreciate cars that are well built. I also prefer electrical work or any type of challenging work that really gets me thinking. If other automotive repair shops can’t figure out complex problems, we gladly will!

4- Can you tell us more about “Everything Auto NY”?

Everything Auto NY is a one stop shop for all your automotive needs in Valley Stream, NY and the surrounding areas. We make all types of repairs, from regular maintenance like belts and brakes to more difficult jobs like computer programming and transmission or engine replacements. We also sell parts and fluids, and even cars. We also have a yearly seminar for our customers and people within the community! We teach many people how to properly check their vehicles and keep up with maintenance along with giving them a little insight on why certain problems occur and how to handle it when they can’t get to a repair shop.

5- Where do you think you are making an impact?

I believe we are making an impact in the community by stepping outside the norms of what is expected of an auto repair shop. We offer the best prices with the quickest quality service available! Dealer level services and complex problem solving at well over half price off is what we are known for. We also take the time to get to know our customers and educate them so that way they feel more comfortable with us and we can better serve their needs. Making our 500+ customers(and counting) a little savvier on automotive care also makes an impact in this industry by making other shops step up their game and lower their prices while providing a higher level of service. We do all services in front of the customer and explain everything in easy to understand terms for extreme transparency, which is something I feel this industry lacks.

6- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “Everything Auto NY”?

I was plagued by so many challenges from the very first moment I even tried to start working on my own and open an auto repair shop. It was difficult enough leaving a set pay with benefits etc. to go on my own and start a business from scratch. I started without knowledge of car repair, let alone not having business experience or schooling. After I gained my knowledge (and the attached debt), it was a huge challenge to start gathering tools and enough work to justify spending so much on the tools! Not only that but trying to get referrals and keep expanding my customer base. When I finally thought I had enough to start up, I started looking for a new place to call my home base, but that process took years. After I finally found the location I’m in now, I put the deposit down and signed all the papers, only to find out that my location was NOT zoned for auto repair in Valley Stream! It turned out to not even be true. Which allowed me to find out very quickly about the corruption that I would now be facing. From those days on, my challenges have only increased (in size and cost!) but solving these challenges and surviving another day is what keeps me going! It’s exciting!!

7- Where do you see the company in the next 5 years?

We are going to keep expanding and I wouldn’t be surprised if we have multiple locations in the next five years. I would like to retain ownership of the company while expanding, so I realize that can limit my growth, especially due to issues with capital.

I have many visions in many other companies that could arise in the next 5 – 10 years as well. I’ll be trying my hardest to multitask while growing a huge team that will change the world more every day.

8- What can you tell young entrepreneurs who are pursuing their dreams?

Work. Really Hard. If you really want to be successful, you have to put in the work and go out there and get it. You cannot wait around for somebody to do it for you, or hand you anything, you have to wake up every day determined and take ACTION! A dream without action remains what it is, a dream. Believe in yourself, and don’t be discouraged by ones who don’t share your vision, not everyone will understand what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Stay focused. Never give up.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?

I am excited about the release of and the expansion of Everything Auto NY, and the new business ventures that I have in the works. I love to look back and see what my life was like before. It allows me to take another risk and keep trying to start something new and exciting! Evolution is what really excites me the most!!
