1- Hello Kyle, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m currently 27 years of age. I have a bachelor in business management and leadership from Portland State University. During my spare time, I enjoy being out on the lakes wakeboarding and spending time with my dog.
2- What are your focus areas and why?
Right now my main focus is to continue the growth of Northwest Movers.
3- How do you describe your journey in few words?
Enjoyable, and a huge learning experience during the initial phases of the company.
4- Can you tell us about your business “Northwest Movers”?
We started back in 2011, just as a pack and load company. The focus at the time was to make enough money to get by, while still attaining a full-time class schedule. Upon graduation, I was able to turn my sole attention to building the brand of Northwest Movers. We don’t turn a blind eye when controversy arises. We take care of our mistakes, which are few in between. Communication with your clients and employees is the main component to the successful business.
5- Where do you think you are making an impact?
I believe we’ve restored faith to the moving industry. We offer clean-cut, non-smoking employees who put their head down and get to work. For the longest time, the moving industry had a fairly bad reputation, due to not putting their customers and employees above all else. We started with zero trucks, and have since grown to 4 fully equipped 24’ trucks. We are one of the top rated moving companies throughout the state of Oregon.
6- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “Northwest Movers”?
The biggest challenge was getting fully licensed and insured by the Oregon department of transportation. There were many hoops to jump through in order to obtain this authority. Also maintaining your reputation isn’t necessarily challenging, however, you must pay close attention daily to ensure the growth continues in the right direction.7- Where do you see the company in the next 5 years?

In five years I still see Northwest Movers being a top moving company for the Portland Market. We are currently looking at other states to open up a second location. There is also a great deal of work to be done to further enhance our SEO with google. We will look to rank higher organically during the next coming years on Google.
8- What can you tell young entrepreneurs who are pursuing their dreams?
Most of these answers tend to be pretty cliche, but never give up. Attitude, perseverance, and effort will take you a long way. In order to build a brand the correct way, you need to live and breath it. There really aren’t any off days when you’re self employed. The wheels upstairs are always spinning, as they should. Try to take the positive out of any presumed negative situations. Negativity can be toxic for you, and your entire company. Stay focused, stay positive, and stay driven.
9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
I’m ecstatic about the continued positive growth for northwest movers. We have great employees who continue to guide the company in the correct direction. It’s a team effort through and through.
10- The last word or final thoughts?
For all entrepreneurs around. The days of word of mouth marketing are still prominent for a successful marketing campaign. However, online reviews have never been more important then now. 80% of customers looking to purchase a product look online for feedback from past clients. It can be challenging to build your brand from the ground up. Once you’ve made a name for yourself, keep that fire burning. Be sure to look over your marketing campaign day in and day out.
