1- Can you describe yourself to our readers so they can learn a little about you?
I have always said that if possible I could be the eccentric love child of Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson if they could have a baby. I guess when you get down to it, I think totally different than most people and act differently as well. I truly care about people and want to help them, but need to do so in the easiest way possible. No Drama, No Nonsense and No Bull S _ _ _. It’s been a long journey and I reached a point where I do not want or need to deal with those things.
2- There are three things we want to talk to you about and one of those is, why are you called, America’s Simple Man. The other is about depression, suicide and dark times. And last, how you feel poetry saved your life. We will let you choose what order you would like to discuss this in.
I’ll start with depression because this is something that has caused me problems for a long time. For me, when this happens, it’s become a very dark time and it takes me to places I just don’t want to go to. It makes me think and act different and possibly even do things that I wouldn’t do when in the right frame of mind. I have been hospitalised twice for this. Almost died from it. Suffer from it even till this day, and have been going to a doctor for years. Anyone I can talk to and help them through their dark times is something I feel is important. For those who say they understand but have never had it, they don’t understand it and don’t let them kid you.
3- OK, Doc, which one is next?
Poetry and it saving my life. I believe that statement to be 100% true. While in the hospital, a doctor suggested that I try writing poetry. I thought he was crazier than I was, but I was locked up, so I tried. It was the best thing that happened to me because poetry took my mind to places that were UN real and let me write about them. I have been published nationally and a few other places but the thing that surprised me the most was, 99% of my poems is what I call, Believer Poems because they have God, Jesus and Angels in them. This keeps me grounded and alive.
4- That leaves us with America’s Simple Man.
It all started with me writing a poem called, Simple Man. But because of everything that has taken place in my life I wanted to keep my life as simple as possible and that included business, life and faith. And that is what I have done, from my writings to business and to my faith. It doesn’t need to be difficult and once people understand that, all is good, real good.
5- Can you tell us about your Simple Income Team?
This was all common sense to me. I took a piece of paper and wrote down exactly how I would want a company to operate if I were a part of it. I covered every aspect from top to bottom. At that point, I set out in search of such a company and it had to at least have 80% of what I required them to have. I am happy to say I have found two such companies and both have 100% of what I was looking for. They are both solid companies with good reputations and could be done in as easy as 3 Simple Steps and at a cost of less than breakfast for two people. Now I develop that team, teach them the simple steps and mentor them to do the same for success.
6- There’s a rumour going around about the so-called friends in your head. Care to share?
It’s true, I hear voices and have for a long time. They tell me what to look out for, who to trust and not trust and even given me words for my poems. I believe they are my angels and they are here to protect me. As crazy as this sounds, they are loyal and by my side at all times. It goes a lot deeper than that, but maybe now would be a good time to stop. Let’s not scare the readers.
7- You have authored a book and have three books being released in 2017, correct?
Yes. All books are Spiritual and are a combination of poetry and short stories. Those stories are personal and tell why I wrote those poems. The first book is, “It’s A God Thing” Second book is, “That’s the Beauty of it All” and the third is, “When God’s Angel Became My Friend”. This three are for 2017, but I have more for 2018 and 2019.
8- How about future goals for America’s Simple Man.
I want to continue writing for sure. It’s my therapy and is like a mental massage to the brain. Possibly do some public speaking on the topic of depression. I want to build my income team as big as I can and I have plans for that team on a much larger scale. I have a few surprises that might include radio and television. If I had to pick my biggest goal, that would be, to make it to tomorrow in the healthiest way possible while thanking Jesus for never leaving my side and getting me through my days and nights in one piece. Jesus never leaves home without him.
9- In closing, can you give us the title of the poem you are writing now and the last 4 lines of your most recent poem?
I want to say thank you for letting me be here with you and your readers, I am grateful. You got me at a really good time because I just finished one poem this week and have already started a new one. The title of my poem I am writing now. “Cigarette’s, Tattoos, Preachers and Fools.
And the last 4 lines from my most recent poem called, “My Bible and a Beer”:
Shaking like a scattered storm while scared like a little child
Confused for what seems like a lifetime, while my thoughts have gone wild
Between moments of Hell and a lifetime of built up fears
I’m Praying like a mad man, with My Bible and a Beer
