1- Hello Michel, can you please tell us a bit about you?
I’m just a person that is passionate about my life. Everything I do I try to accomplish it 100%! My day starts at 5AM every morning. This is a great way to accomplish much more than the average person does in her life. I love my job in the industrial valve business more than everything, but besides this, I’m into book writing, card magic and leadership experiences…. By the end, it is all a question of how you organize your day.
2- What are your focus areas and why?
No matter if in business, during my hobbies or in the private life my focus is on one very simple life target “The true meaning of success in life is creating value that benefits to others”.
3- How would you describe “THE ART OF SUCCESSFUL LEADERSHIP” in a few words?
The Art of Successful Leadership is a product of my successful leadership roles over the years. I’ve been there, I’ve led, and I’ve conquered. These few words are my tears and sweat for years. I wrote it all down so that your own leadership journey can be faster and easier than mine was.
4- Where do you think it is really making an impact?
When you understand the meaning and the experience behind the words it makes an impact. Many business books are written by University Professors who have never really had the opportunity to lead a team or experience the everyday problems of a company in the private sector. I was in the lucky situation to do so. In business, in sports in the military service and finally in private life.
5- Do you think integrity is an essential part of the Leadership practice?
Why is integrity important? Because every day, we are all faced with countless decisions, large and small. Many of these choices seem minor and unimportant, but even a minor decision can end up having enormous consequences further down the road. The effects of a decision can be magnified even further when it is being made by someone in a position of leadership.
It is therefore crucial that you understand the importance of behaving with integrity at all times when you are a leader? Simply put, integrity is crucial because it means doing the right thing, no matter what.
6- What advice would you give to young people just starting out and hoping to make it in the industry?
“Just be yourself”! Many young aspiring leaders make the error that they try to copy one of their idols. Copying will only work during a small part of your path. Sooner or later the people surrounding you will find out that you are not a true person.
7- Do you find as an expert, that you enjoy the challenge of the industry being complex with the game rules are always changing?
Today’s business is very challenging. I would not say it is complex, but it requires you to be always ready for changes and new things. In today Industry the availability to be open for the “NEW” is definitely I great habit a leader needs to have.
8- If you could turn the time, what would you love to change in regards to your career?
Over the years is really figured out that I love “teaching”. Nevertheless, if I teach aspiring volleyball coaches or my staff in the office, teaching gives me a lot of energy and a certain sense to what I’m doing.
If I could start it all over again at the age of 15, I would definitely try to become a teacher…
9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
I’m really excited about my new personal 500 hours challenge I started a few weeks ago! During 250 days I invest 2 hours a day to become an expert in a completely new field. I’ve chosen “Mental Magic” & “Mental Illusions”. The great thing about this field is that the same techniques & tactics can be used in business or just in your everyday relationships. Mental illusions make people dream! An being able to dream is one of the most important habits in your life towards the path of happiness.
10- The last word or final thoughts?
Surround yourself with people that are smarter than you and you will have a much better life.
