1- Hello Barry, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m Barry originally from the Philippines, currently based in Sydney, Australia. I have lived in different countries for the last 10 years which include Dubai (in UAE), Macau and Singapore.
I started CoupleStuffs.com 3 years ago after finding out, as someone who is in a relationship (now married), that there was a need in the market for a store that specifically serves the couples/partners market.

2- What are your focus areas and why?
My focus area of the business is mostly its operational side as well as the company’s marketing component. As a business owner who built the enterprise from ground up, it’s vital that I continue to maintain and scale up the business relationship with all of our suppliers who are actually based in different countries, as well as look after our growing customer base who like our suppliers, are also scattered in different countries worldwide. I also focus on the marketing side of the business both front end and back as well as thru social media where we currently are sourcing about 70% of all the leads and sales.

3- How do you describe “CoupleStuffs” in few words?
CoupleStuffs.com is currently the world’s biggest shop for couple products with thousands of speciality items like couple matching shirts, couple rings, couple bags and shoes plus much more!

4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
We are making a big impact with worldwide couple customers who are now discovering our special products specifically for them. We are making an impact on shoppers who avail of our shop’s discounts and specials thereby giving them such great amounts of saving and value to their purchases.

5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job?
Being an entrepreneur is both challenging and tiring as you have to squeeze in any and all amount of time, energy and funds to look after your business and to make sure you achieve your targets.
But, what most people do not get to experience know is that rewarding sense of achievement and pride witnessing your start up business take off the ground, achieve your scalable growth and revenue targets and receive great feedback from customers as well as your website’s audience.

6- The E-Commerce industry is a very changing, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In 5 years, I hope to have achieved a pre-planned structural growth for the business’ model and its pre-determined share of the worldwide market specifically serving the couple/partner market and have expanded to a wider range of speciality products. And yes, doing it hopefully full time while relaxing with my wife on a tropical island somewhere in the Pacific with fast and reliable internet service.

7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “CoupleStuffs”?
The biggest challenge at firs was trying to consolidate a huge list of suppliers who are based in different countries, with different time zones and finally coming up with a system that works for all. That plus the fact that its always challenging to start a business when you are your own boss as well as your social media marketer, front line customer staff, shipping fulfilment officer and etc. Lucky that with enough knowledge and some ‘techniques’ I got to learn along the way, I now have most of these tasks delegated to partners and consultant freelancers worldwide who are helping run the business operations.

8- What are you most excited about at the moment?
Growth, growth and more growth! We just recently achieved an unparalleled increase in market share during the 2nd quarter of this year and are still riding on this momentum. Things are getting more exciting and we are just happy to face that and enjoy it as we can (with lots of hard work, of course!)

9- What can you tell to young people who are pursuing their dreams?
I am loyal to the Adidas sports apparel brand but I’ll have to go Nike on this one. If you think you want to achieve something, JUST DO IT!
