1- Hello CJ, can you tell us a bit about yourself
I am a 25-year-old entrepreneur. I moved to LA when I was 18, started modelling and that’s when my interest in business blossomed. The owners were primarily men, starting out with little knowledge of the women’s apparel industry, often times people who had moved to the United States and built themselves from nothing. I was so fascinated in how they paved their way I began to wonder why many young women, like myself, don’t take the initiative to start their own business when we already have such an advantage. From there I enroled in the UCLA business entrepreneur program and have since created 3 businesses.

2- How would you describe “Neon Beige” in under few words?
Cheeky Athletic-Wear; For the girl who didn’t make it to the gym.

3- What are your focus areas and why?
Neon Beige is a company designed for women who are not over-bearing athletes. Neon beige is for women who lead busy lives, but that doesn’t stop them from being comfortable and sexy.

4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
Young women can’t necessarily afford a trainer or a fancy gym membership. I want to encourage women to live active lifestyles without feeling pressured to be perfect. Neon Beige is all about empowering women, and promoting self-love.

5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job?
Neon Beige is my first company which I incorporated. Now Neon Beige is the mother company to “Festival Royalty”, a festival lookbook and “Champagne Problems”, a comedic web series. Most of my job is creating new content for Neon Beige, choosing the right investors and manufacturers that understand what is unique about the brand. All my companies are created for women 18-35 who are clever and fashion-forward.

6- The fashion world is very changing, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In the next five years, I hope to expand neon beige, and create new themed collections. I have plans to shoot some hilarious videos and commercials to tie Neon Beige into Champagne Problems. Lots of collaborations planned and mostly bringing on more people and giving back.

7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “Neon Beige”?
Everything has been a learning experience. From learning how to design clothing to communicating with the manufacturer. Hiring employees, legal work, taxes, creating and producing content, working with different personalities, delegating tasks, running websites. Honestly, everything has been a process, but I’m young and eager. The challenges and struggles only make the reward that much better.

8- What are you most excited about at the moment?
A big collaboration I have in the works. I can’t quite talk about yet because it’s still in the works, but there is a certain (gorgeous) female entrepreneur that I’ve been strategizing with that I’m very excited about.

9- What can you tell to young Fashionista that is about to start?
Learn as much as you can about your brand identity and demographic. Tell everyone what your goals are, and don’t be afraid to ask for help!
