1- Hello Monica, Can you please introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Monica, and I help entrepreneurs build online schools, training programs or other educational platforms. I’m also a UX Designer and I currently build educational apps for adults.

2- What are your focus areas and why?

I’m an eLearning (or online learning) Strategist because my high school educated parents taught me the value of formal education and how it’s not accessible or affordable to everyone.  So I try to combat that by helping as many professionals as I can share their expertise in a meaningful way online.

3-How do you describe “The Learn By Design School” in a few words?

It’s a community of aspiring digital educators that need resources, guidance, and accountability to build their first online course or program.

4- Where do you think it’s making an impact?

We’re helping the next Udacity or Khan Academy Founders, so our impact is providing the tools and knowledge to experts that are transforming lives in a variety of industries and ways. Right now we have accountants, aromatherapist, a couple of software developers, and a mechanic, and many more people building their first few online courses.

5- What advice would you like to give to those just starting in the eLearning world?

There are probably a million other online courses in the topic you want to teach, but those course creators do not have the same experience or knowledge as you. There is always a market for your expertise.

6- Do you think your mindset has anything to do with your success?

Definitely. For me, it’s the multiplier effect. For example, one person created an online history school that focused on stories that were not taught in American schools.  More than 5,000 people took at least one course in the first three months. Some of the most memorable feedback was from people in their 60s that never knew their own history.  That is what keeps me going.

7- If you could turn the time, what would you love to change in regards to your career?

Nothing! I’ve loved every step of the way.

8- What is the “one-word” advice you will give to our readers when it comes to succeeding at working independently?

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?

Thank you for asking. We are building an online cannabis training program to help fulfill the knowledge and skills gap in the industry. People will be able to learn from the best, earn certificates and have access to a career center.

10- The last word or final thoughts?
