1- Hello Sean, can you please tell us a bit about you?

I am a programmer who writes proprietary software for a large tech firm in the Seattle area. I am also a blogger with a wide audience ranging from technology industry leaders to laypersons. My mission is to make tech topics more accessible to the general public. I frequently speak at conferences in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

2- What are your focus areas and why?

My focus areas are coding, communication, and advocacy. The bread and butter of my job lies in writing solid, useful, and innovative code for my employer. I work closely with a team of excellent programmers to make our ideas come to life. Communication means a lot to me. I use my blog to reach out to people who may feel that technology topics are too complex. I also like to speak at conferences and to absorb new information. Advocacy is my third focus area. I believe that attracting young people to tech jobs is vital for the survival of the industry.

3- How do you describe your journey in few words?

My journey started with small steps toward a tech career and has brought me to a place where I can help others understand the field.

4- Where do you think your work is making an impact?

My company has benefited from my programming skills. Each time they roll out new software, I feel satisfied that I have done a good job. I also believe that my work has made a great impact by demystifying technology. I believe that everyone deserves to understand the field.

5- How do you think creative teen are changing the future of business?

Creative teens have so much energy. Their fresh and original ideas should be respected in the industry. I started my career as a high school intern, and I got so much out of the experience. I have worked to encourage young people to apply for internships and also to develop their coding skills on their own.

6- Tell us about your approach?

My approach to my blog is twofold. First, I collect new ideas from around the world at technology conferences. I bring this information to my blog readers in a clear and concise format. Second, I work to foster curiosity in people who would not normally be interested in technology topics.

7- Do you think your mindset has anything to do with success?

I believe that my mindset has everything to do with my success. I always have an open mind, and this leads me to solutions that other people would not think possible. I love to work on new problems. My natural curiosity leads me to new solutions.

8- If you could turn the time, what would you love to change?

There isn’t much that I would change about my career. The only thing that I might change is that I would have taken more math classes in college. I have a strong aptitude for math and I feel that this has made my job easier, but I was curious about the higher branches of math above calculus.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?

I’m thrilled by the possibilities of AI and robotics. I believe that in the future, we will have the ability to create robots that can interact like humans and perform human tasks. This will free people to spend more time on creative pursuits. The industry is beginning to take off.

10- The last word or final thoughts?

Everyone should follow their curiosity. Too many people are trapped in dead-end careers and live unfulfilled lives because they have lost the ability to explore new ideas. Keep an open mind and be ready for new experiences.
