Interview with J. Andrew Keeler, digital marketing professional and Founder at Local Search Solutions

1- Hello J. Andrew, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born and raised in Great Bend, Kansas and later attended Kansas State University. I have been in the Kansas City area ever since working in marketing.

2- What are your focus areas and why?
My focus areas are all things digital – website design and dev, paid and organic search, social, conversion rate optimization, landing page optimization, digital public relations, app development…anything that falls in the digital marketing sphere.

3- How do you describe “Local Search Solutions” in few words?
Local Search Solutions is an outsourced digital marketing company.  It offers access to professionals in any area of digital marketing, without the cost of employing them full time. Pay as you need.

4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
We are making a huge impact in the bottom lines of small and mid-sized companies. Often times we help them replace entry and mid-level employees that aren’t really creating revenue or value. They see almost instant return when they shift that spend to an outsourced model that focuses on ROI and results.

5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your journey?
Many people don’t know that I’ve worked at some of the largest digital marketing companies in the United States, and even they outsource a great deal of their work.

6- The Online Marketing industry is always changing, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I’ll be doing the same thing I am now…helping businesses succeed in an environment that changes every single week.

7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while starting “Local Search Solutions”?
There haven’t been any real challenges. The most common hurdle we have to overcome is getting people used to an outsourced model where they don’t have 24/7 access to people working in their marketing. If they want results, they don’t get it from daily status meetings and urgent phone calls. De-training them from a fire-drill mentality is the closest thing to a challenge that we really encounter.

8- What are you most excited about at the moment?
I’m excited about all the technology that’s out there to help people market better. Custom remarketing, user generated content, IP targeting…it’s Marketers dream right now.

9- What can you tell to young people who are pursuing their dreams?
Do what you really love doing, and eventually the money will come. And, if it doesn’t, you’ve spent your life doing what you love…which is a pretty sweet consolation prize!

10- Any last words or final thoughts?
Digital marketing and advertising are a full space, but not everyone working in it is a professional. Make sure you align your business with people who know what the hell is going on.
