Interview with James J Barnes, Barnes Realty Group’s CEO

1- Hello James, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I am a real estate team leader and CEO of the Barnes Realty Group in the Houston Texas area. I am former Army veteran and serial entrepreneur and student of business.

2- What are your focus areas and why?
My focus is on providing education based real estate resources to sellers and buyers of residential real estate. Our primary focus is helping sellers get top dollar for the homes and our marketing for homes is second to none.

3- How do you describe “Barnes Realty Group” in few words?
We are about provided as much value as we can to our clients with tools to educate them about the Houston market and be the resource for them in any way we can.

4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
I think the education-based approach is what separates us from everyone else. We truly are about our clients and giving the market as much information and that draws people to want to work with us.

5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job as a Real Estate Expert?
It’s not as easy as people think it is. People think we make all kind of money and we work whenever we want to. You can work whenever you want but you can’t make a living in the business working that way. You have to be extremely structured and disciplined to really make it big in real estate.

6- The market is very changing, where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years we will be one of the top real estate companies in the city of Houston as our market bounces back from the oil job layoffs and our economy continues to grow. We will be a leading edge company continually providing education based real estate resources for buyers and sellers so that we attract people to our company wanting to work with us instead of us constantly chasing business.
7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “Barnes Realty Group”?
The biggest challenge is finding the right people that have a similar passion for real estate and being able to delegate a lot of the task that comes with this business.

8- What can you tell to young people who are pursuing their dreams?
Find something you love to do and then figure out how to monetize it. Don’t play it safe if you have a passion for doing something. Fortunately, we live in a country where you make money doing virtually anything but you have to love what you’re doing or the money won’t be enough to keep you going because you will experience some challenges.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
We are ready to attack 2017 with a brand new marketing campaign that we feel will help us blow our goals out of the water for next year.

10- The last word or final thoughts?
I try to live like this may be my last day on earth although it’s so hard to remember this because life happens. As much as you plan things out there is always something that happens unexpectedly but you still gotta make a plan adjust as needed and keep moving forward and don’t take any days for granted. Eventually, you will accomplish whatever goal you have as look as you don’t quit.
