  1. Hello Keith, can you please tell us a bit about you?

As VP of Marketing for My Patriot Supply, I’m responsible for directing the traditional and eCommerce selling strategies for each of our individual brands, including Alexapure, Colonial Concepts, Patriot Pantry and Patriot Seeds. My experience as a marketing leader stretches back more than 25 years, and I’m thrilled about the opportunity to combine my professional expertise with my love of the outdoors while leading the talented team at My Patriot Supply.

  1. What are your focus areas and why?

Although I’m responsible for the print, radio, television, direct mail and digital marketing strategies we develop and execute, my principal focus in leading the marketing team is digital, especially the digital strategies involving affiliate partnerships, conversion optimization, direct response, display, email, microsites, PPC, product feeds, retargeting, SEO, social, UX and video, among many others.

  1. What influences your work? What makes you want to wake up every morning?

Marketing is always a challenging enterprise. While I love that my role allows me to tackle a new set of challenging opportunities each and every day, I wake up each morning most excited about the idea of promoting products and services I truly believe in as well as a company whose mission and values so closely align with my own. What we do ultimately can save lives.

  1. With the social media era, what are the new rules of a new VP Marketing?

Social media is all about instant connectivity, so open lines of communication between the company and the consumer is simply an expectation both day and night. While it would be nice to take a more deliberative approach from time to time, Marketing VPs must be dynamic, responsive and quick on their feet to succeed in the social media era. Moments and even seconds count when engaging with those using social media.

  1. Where do you think you are making an impact?

Addressing the needs of the survivalist/preparedness community — without resorting to the fear-mongering or price-gouging tactics employed by other companies in the industry — was one of the main reasons for the founding of My Patriot Supply. It’s also one of the reasons I work for this amazing company. I think we have made an enormous and wholly positive impact on members of this community, particularly when it comes to emphasizing that the goal of self-reliance and emergency preparedness is removing fear, not responding to fear. We’re students of history here and history repeats itself.

  1. Can you tell us more about My Patriot Supply?

My Patriot Supply serves the growing community of people interested in survivalism, emergency preparedness, and self-reliance. We accomplish this by providing our customers with access to things like high-quality food that lasts up to 25 years, heirloom seeds (non-GMO) that store 5 more years, water filtration products, survival tools and gear, along with a number of other important supplies and equipment.

  1. Where do see the company in the next 5 years?

We’re still growing and are still very much in the process of expanding. But I don’t see anything about our mission or values changing over the next five years — or even beyond that. Our mission is simple. We’ll continue to provide affordable products, expert advice and survival solutions to people who share the values of self-reliance and preparedness in the same way we do here at My Patriot Supply. As active participants in the preparedness lifestyle, we understand today’s complex concerns and challenges that come with getting prepared, because we’ve been through it.

  1. What can you tell young marketers who are pursuing a dream job?

In the marketing profession, just like so many other professions, there is no substitute for a strong ethic and a willingness to “pay your dues,” so to speak. A lot of young professionals look down upon entry-level jobs or responsibilities. But those experiences and the hand-on expertise matters. That kind of perspective will help open many doors in the future.

  1. What are you most excited about at the moment?

Obviously, I am very passionate about my work and my role with My Patriot Supply. But, from a personal perspective, at the moment, I am most excited about spending some time hiking around Upper Priest Lake in Idaho. Summers there are beautiful. It’s the best place to get back to nature on the planet.

  1. The last word or final thoughts?

Over the past 30 years or so, I’ve learned that diligence in preparation, along with a consistent willingness to engage in hard work, will always be rewarded in the long run. Stay focused. Stay the course.
