1- Hello Laura, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
I have been writing for over a decade. When I was in middle school I would write in a notebook and later my friends would read my story and pen comments on the margin. That encouraged me to keep on. I published my first novel in 2009, Reckless Perfection. Years later in 2016 the sequel to Reckless Perfection, Chasing Ghosts has been published.
My Christian faith is important to me and I incorporate my beliefs in my books. My love for family, friendship, sports, music, fashion, and of course New Jersey also shows through my writing.
I hail from Eatontown, New Jersey and now reside in sunny Florida.
I come from Haitian parents and am bilingual in both English and Haitian Creole.
If I don’t have a pen and notebook in my hand you’ll find me spending time with family and friends, listening to music, or trying out new adventures.
I am working on the third book of the Reckless Perfection series among other projects.

2- What are your focus areas and why?
I am an author of young adult novels because I enjoy writing.

3- How do you describe the Reckless Girls from your young adult novel Chasing Ghosts  in few words?
The Reckless Girls are the four main characters of my young adult novel Chasing Ghosts, A Reckless Perfection Series. After having a tough sophomore year, Mercedez is ready to get her act together. That includes getting better grades, making amends with her family, and even say goodbye to her bad-boy ex-boyfriend. As she tries to turn the corner, she realises though she is in a better place in life she still has to face her own worst enemy: herself.
Getting back together with her boyfriend was a blessing. Getting him to say the “l” word was a miracle. As Julia and her collegiate boyfriend get more serious, temptations arise. Julia contemplates taking her relationship with him to the next level, fearing she will lose him if she doesn’t.
Amanda is determined to do anything to become popular during her junior year of high school. While trying to get attention, she tries to make the grades, get involved in every club at school in order to get into Princeton, and of course, date one of the most popular guys at school, even though he is a known player.
Angela has finally made it to her junior year of high school and she is over the drama of the past years. Though the drama at school about her has died down, it has escalated at home, now that her mother is back together with her ex. Angela tries to avoid her mother’s boyfriend at all cost, however, when tragedy strikes, he is the only one she believes she can turn to.

4- Why do you think you are making an impact?
I feel I am making an impact in the world of writing because I write characters that are relatable to teenagers today such as faith, family, academics, friendships, and relationships.

5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job?
Writing is not my only job. I am also a nurse.

6- The book industry is very changing, why do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I see myself continuing to write the Reckless Perfection Series along with another novel outside of the Reckless Perfection Series. I plan to dabble in screenplays in the future.

7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on the Chasing Ghosts novel?
The biggest challenge I have faced off the Chasing Ghosts Novel is getting it outside of my circle and to the hands of readers I feel would enjoy it. I am thankful that I have God, my parents and so many others who have been supportive of my writing journey.

Meet the Reckless Girls from young adult novel Chasing Ghosts: From left to right Amanda , played by Stephanie Beaumont, Julia, played by Cayden Finch, Mercedez, played by Raquelle Wallace, and Angela played by Ciara Carter.

8- What are you most excited about at the moment?
I am most excited about my second book finally coming out. I spent years revamping the Reckless Perfection Series by getting more control of the look of the brand. I couldn’t have done it without out the help of so many others.

9- What can you tell to young who want to start a new adventure pursuing their dreams?
Put God first. Keep the faith, surround yourself with positive people, work hard, and never give up.
