1- Hello Marbens, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Marbens Alexandre. I am 19 years old, currently resides in North Lauderdale, FL, but originally from Aquin Sud, Haiti. I am pursuing an Associate of Science Degree in Graphic Design, and my expected graduation is June 2017.
2- What are your focus areas and why?
My focus areas are to keep reaching new levels of success, to be better than who I was yesterday, to be a master at Graphic Design because the Designs I am creating at this point in life is not enough for me to be called great. I know I could do better and I will do better.
3- How do you describe “Designed by Marbens” in few words?
DesignedByMarbens revolves around simplicity because the fewer elements that are in a graphic could mean so much more, instead of having a bunch of elements on top of each other. Simplicity looks easy, but having to sit down and come up with the idea is the hard part. It is time-consuming. At DesignedByMarbens, great customer service is provided to the clients, because the happier the clients are, the stronger the business grows.
4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
I am making a huge impact at following the paths that I created for me to reach the finish line. I want to be successful, and I know for a fact I will be because I see the progress I am making, I have the knowledge, and I am working 24/7 nonstop. The amount of work I already put into Graphic Design will benefit me in five years from now. If I stumbled along the way, it wouldn’t matter, because I don’t quit. I rather fight through the obstacles, instead of quitting. Pain is temporary and quitting is irreversible.5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job?
5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job?
People don’t know the amount of time that a Graphic Designer takes just to make one logo or any type of graphics because, without a concept, there’s no design. We have to create rough drafts after rough drafts.
Some Designers prefer getting on the computer first, and some prefer a pencil and a pad. The tricky part is, what the client wants is what the client get. There should be no excuses or whatsoever. If you know you can’t deliver a service, there’s no point of taking the job.
6- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
In the next five years, I see myself as someone that’s using Graphic Design to speak to the people, because with art, I can express my feelings, emotions, thoughts, and visions through creativity.
7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “Designed by Marbens”?
Some challenges I encountered are finding the right market to advertise it in and saving a certain amount of money to advertise it on social media and to get a website up and running. But I can’t get too comfortable because more obstacles are waiting ahead for me.
8- What can you tell to young people who are pursuing their dreams?
Listen, you were born to be something. You have a dream, then go for it. I am not saying it’s easy to execute a goal, but if you keep working towards it nonstop, I strongly believe you will be successful. And don’t expect people to believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself.
9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
Right now, I am excited about the changes I am making towards myself to be a better person. I feel like, I am going to do something so big, even the people around me would be affected by it.
10- The last word or final thoughts?
No, that’s it. Thank you!
