1- Hello SIAN, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Sian Gunney I am 36 years old. I have two Chihuahuas called Coco and Rio a hugely supportive partner, family and an incredible circle of friends and contacts that inspire me.
I’m 48 in the top 100 influencers on Digital Marketing listed by @Onalytica. I’ve been nominated and won awards for brand activation from Chrysler to being nominated as a creative industries leader by Inspire Wales. I run my own digital marketing consultancy Sian Gunney Consulting (SGC Digital) primarily working within beauty/ aesthetics and medical but not exclusively. I’m director of marketing for Cosmeditech. We’ve launched the brand in Dubai and Bahrain, Germany ,Portugal and the U.K in the last 4 months with Xero Lipo. So it’s been busy. I’m opening my books to new clients both nationally and internationally as I’m growing the business again. I was director of digital marketing for Skinade a leading nutraceutical with now a big celebrity following that I positioned to launch in the states earlier last year. Prior to that I can my own company Peacock Media group PMG looking after brands from Dominos Pizza, Salon Concepts, Wok to Go, Coca Cola, Football Association of Wales, Welsh Football Trust, Fablas Ice cream, Cardiff Devils, Lloyds Bank, Universal Records to name a few.

4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
Generally with prestige established brands that want to rocket their brand awareness and grow on an international level.

5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job as a digital marketing expert?
Probably the hours I work as social media and digital marketing have no out of office hours. The level of detail that is required and the constant updates to my skillset and knowledge bank, as professional development is daily with online updates and social media algorithms to navigate. Also the level of science and art involved from creative, disruption strategies, behavioural psychology online with push and pull mechanisms between brand and consumer or should I say the prosumer, with brand engagement to B2B lead navigation and conversions and B2C understanding buyer behaviour on websites and across social media with focus on mobile.

6- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Probably in the UAE in Dubai working if not the States.
Ummm married. (Something I didn’t think I would say before)

7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “SIAN GUNNEY CONSULTING”?
That’s an interesting one. Managing expectations is difficult dealing with client’s that want instant results on a B2B basis is difficult.
For large-scale retainers or investments these relationships just like in the real world with networking and meetings take time to nurture.
Sometimes successes from 11 mill contracts secured within 6-9 months for clients to 250K enquiries in the first two weeks can give people false expectations of daily or weekly results. Also when you specify ad budgets to clients later phase plans and these are all agreed and then the client takes a huge amount of budget away from PR advertorial and PPC budgets but expects the same impact or results. However it keeps me on my toes as each day is a challenge and with that comes great opportunity to find a new angle a new way or doing things and driving brand awareness, engagement, nurturing and ultimately success.

8- What can you tell to young people who are pursuing their dreams?
I would say just go for it or as Nike says Just Do IT!
Yes you are going make mistakes, yes you are going to get criticised, but you will make waves and you will keep moving forward and learning. Life is never about the destination always the journey. So with the big waves and the calm sea keep smiling and enjoy the experience. Everything is your teacher in life if you pay attention. If anyone reading this wants advice or to take a look at my case studies or projects completed just tweet me or add me on LinkedIn I’m easy to find.
I do some spots of guest lecturing at Cardiff Business School the University of South Wales , London met and Westminster. For the students of marketing, law and business degrees. My lectures are fairly dynamic and straight talking and the feedback I get always blows me away.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
Exploring Dubai in May with my partner Ash, seeing what the UAE has to offer. Finally getting round to doing my own website and launching a new blog and Vlog. I’m looking forward to taking on more keynote speaker opportunities and taking my next challenges on in growing the business again and re-opening my books. I’ve put some feelers out with potential clients I would like to work with and have had some exciting inbound requests… So anything is possible!

10- The last word or final thoughts?
Work and Life
No-one ever said it was going to be easy.
Just never give up on whatever life you want to live.
Choose where and who you spend your energy with wisely.
Know that life isn’t a race and anything that looks like a short cut is often a route that leads nowhere. Know that everyone you help in this life won’t forget it but may not acknowledge that for many years to come. Leaders don’t create followers they create more leaders.
No matter how anyone treats you in business or in life always do what is right. Let your success and case studies in business do the talking for you. Ideas are a dime a dozen what matters is execution. Content is anything that ads value to a reader’s life, not regurgitated spin… So research and write something new. Stop just posting online we are overrun with info-besity comment, engage, question.. Change it up. Be real – don’t be afraid to be yourself and say what you think, that is your power. Return on authenticity is the greatest return of all.

Do you feel overwhelmed by digital? Unsure how to use social media? Tired of being told different things and posting as and when you can with no clear strategy?

I’m Sian a creative digital marketing consultant. I come and meet you and discuss your brand, your business and listen to you talk me through the journey so far and where you really want to go.

I only work with those I truly believe in.
I’ve worked with a wide variety of brands, From reputable SME’s, celebrity and some of the world’s most valuable brands. Global expansion can often be fast tracked with video and the right digital and social media management.

Despite being a keynote speaker on digital marketing and a university guest lecturer. I always say nothing is more powerful than personal relationships and face-to-face contact. It’s crucial to make real connections and build relationships that last.

Combining experiential marketing and digital marketing often gets the highest traction results and engagement.

The digital world can be utterly confusing. I cut through that noise and speak your language, keeping your strategy simple and relevant.
From …gaining clients multi-million pound contracts B2B. Bringing roads to a standstill with events, Getting global press, head hunting the brightest talent online, building a global brand from conception to market place, doubling a business in less than 6 months to costs saving exercises on current spend and activities, Implementing social media policies and training staff and management, to simply creating fun and exciting campaigns online.

I analyse what is needed I have a dream team of freelancers I can call upon. I project manage I’m hands on with your social media and community management and hold your hand the whole way ensuring together we make great things happen!
