Interview with Umran Malik, Co-Founder of Snob Monkey

1- Hello Umran, can you tell us a bit about yourself.
I am the Co-founder and Managing Director of Snob Monkey, I reside in one of the biggest melting pots, London, UK. I hold a degree in “Management in Digital Media Marketing” from CIM / UCL University. In addition, I also hold multiple qualifications in Computer System Engineering, Project Management, and Business Development. My love for experimenting with the latest technology and trends drove me towards Social Media.
Whilst growing up I have had exposure to different countries like, USA, Dubai and Saudi Arabia and England. Studying in Indian Embassy School in Saudi Arabia at a young age gave me a good understanding of culture and at the same time living in the west gave me a good understanding of modern life and grabbing opportunities when I see them.
Prior to Snob Monkey, I had had the pleasure of working for notable companies, Jacob Sardini, The Pure Health, Donavan Data Systems (DDS), University of Glamorgan. This has contributed to a very rich experience and knowledge across varied sectors.

2- How would you describe “Snob Monkey” in under few words?

3- What are your focus areas and why?
We provide quite a few services at Snob Monkey like website design, graphic design, mobile app development, but our main focus has been on Social Media. Within Social media, our main focus has not just been updates but also customer service. By that I mean our clients customer service to their clients. Not only do we handle the social media but we also handle the customer service side of their online platforms. The reason for this is that social media and their updates are useless if you can’t provide the customer service that is required on their platforms for their customers.

4- How do you differentiate yourselves from your competitors?
Most competitors had too many small prints and not enough information displayed for potential customers, hence misleading them. We did the right opposite and provided the clients with all the information so that they knew exactly what they are getting themselves into and that just leads to a long-term relationship with our clients. There is no small print in the contract, everything is very clear and in plain English, which is exactly, what it should be.

5- We all want our website or product to get found. What are the recent trends in Marketing Optimization?
Recent trends, demand for your products or website to be found by any one, you need an active presence on Social media. The type of business can determine which platform to use. Google loves business, that use social media, so the more engaged you are on social media platforms, the more likely your SEO and website will be seen.

6- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job?
It’s a lot of hard work but fun at the same time. Social media takes over your life and it can be more addictive than Candy Crush 😉 Once you get those creative juices flowing then you really start to enjoy the work. In this job being outspoken, creative, opinionated are all good trades to posses. Working in Snob Monkey is FUN!

7- What tips would you give to anybody who is looking to get started a business in the marketing field?
A lot of people think Social media is an easy job and just requires and update or 2. They don’t realize for good social media you need to know the in’s and out’s and you need to have a creative head on your shoulder. In this field you need to be creative, outspoken and be able to deliver your vision on to social Media.

8- And what were some of the biggest challenges you encountered personally?
Some of the challenges I faced was finding the right people to work under Snob Monkey. In the beginning, I did all the research and put everything together from the packages to the terms and conditions and this was not an easy task, but one that had to be done by me.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
We are currently in the process of expanding our company. We just moved offices as well and it everyone is excited knowing the future for Snob Monkey is bright.

10- A last Word or final thoughts?
Don’t hold back, if you feel a particular business or concept is good, go for it. There are too many people who let other things get in the way and don’t take the risk and later in life regret it when someone else creates that same business successfully. If you won’t do it, someone else will!
